WAGO is a global brand, specialising in electrical interconnection, automation and interface electronic technologies. It enjoys worldwide success with nine international production and distribution sites, and 19 other distribution companies and representatives across more than 80 countries. Its focus is to create a smarter, more connected world.
CHALLENGE
WAGO UK has relocated its UK and Ireland headquarters to a new all-purpose 4.5 acre site in the heart of Rugby, designed to accommodate their growing team of over 100 staff members.

For the design of the headquarters, MDG Architects faced the challenge of finding a ceiling solution that met both the aesthetic and functional needs of the building. They sought a brand offering a wide range of colour options to align with their design vision, while also providing products that could meet the building’s acoustic performance requirements.
The building’s lower-than-average ceiling heights added another layer of complexity, requiring a flexible, innovative solution that could seamlessly integrate with the architectural constraints. MDG Architects were required to find a final product that could deliver on all fronts, combining design, acoustics, and adaptability.
SOLUTION
Having already established a successful working relationship with Zentia, MDG Architects were confident that the company could deliver a complete ceiling solution tailored to their specific requirements for WAGO UK’s new headquarters. Zentia’s expertise allowed them to create a specification package that perfectly addressed both the aesthetic and acoustic needs of the space.

The final solution incorporated a combination of Sonify canopies and baffles, along with Prestige Tegular24 tiles. In the common areas, white rectangular Sonify canopies were installed to maintain a clean, contemporary look. The entrance area featured circular Sonify canopies arranged at varying heights in grey and green – WAGO’s corporate colours – creating a striking visual impact. In the corridors, horizonal Sonify canopies in two shades of grey were used to provide a sleek, cohesive design.

Sonify by Zentia offered the ideal solution for custom ceiling designs, combining aesthetic flexibility with superior acoustic performance. Rated Class A in sound absorption, the Sonify range effectively manages sound levels while also allowing for creative design. With 35 standard colour options – the largest range available in the UK – Sonify enables architects to tailor ceiling solutions to any space without compromising on functionality.
In addition, the Prestige Tegular24 tiles provided a versatile and practical choice for a range of spaces within the building. Their smooth, finely textured surface delivers balanced acoustical performance with excellent sound absorption and attenuation, making them well-suited for areas such as meeting rooms, libraries, and data centres.
The ceiling was successfully installed by Tapper Interiors, members of Zentia’s award-winning partnership scheme. Their membership means they can access Zentia’s off-cut recycling scheme and add further sustainability credentials to the project.
Mike Rapper, Managing Director at Tapper Interiors, said: “We are pleased to be part of Zentia’s Pinnacle Partners scheme which we have found to be mutually beneficial. This particular project is the largest Sonify baffle scheme that has been undertaken in this country so far. We found Zentia’s products easy to install, and they provided a perfect solution both acoustically and aesthetically for the open plan office areas.”
In selecting Zentia, MDG Architects ensured that WAGO’s new HQ not only met the project’s design and acoustic objectives but also reflected the company’s brand identity. The end result is a dynamic, visually appealing space that enhances both productivity and comfort by blending functionality and creativity.
